Blog O’clock ⏰

Hey team! How’s it going? Guess what time it is…

After a long day of travel yesterday, we FINALLY got released into the wilds of Rasnov… And boy did we see some crazy stuff. We found a bear, some awesome hats, and the world’s least bouncy trampoline!

At breakfast time, we were presented with a plethora of Romanian delicacies. These included the world’s most…fragrant… olives, and sausages which resembled octopuses.

We then ‘hit the toon’, where things really got interesting…

We picked up a few day’s worth of shopping for around a tenner, only after deliberating for a while about which milk to buy.

Soon our attention was drawn from our grocery shopping by a store named “China Shop”. However, this was no place of crockery purchase, rather a world where dreams come true…where you can find mountains of imported clothing and accessories.

We were dazzled.

As fashion icons ourselves, we felt it was necessary to purchase the best hats and glasses money can buy (see image below and be stunned).

We Are Here!!

After an interesting flight in an interesting plane we have all arrived safely. We have settled in nicely to our hotel for the next day or 2 and the views of the mountains are spectacular.

Today our goal is to prepare for the expedition which kicks off tomorrow morning. We are all raring to go and can’t wait to get started!

Day 1 for Team 4

After a long day of travelling we have settled into our home for the first two nights.

After meeting at Glasgow Airport in kilts and full uniform, we boarded the plane to Bucharest for a 3.5 hour flight. From there we boarded the vans to Rasnov for a 2 hour drive towards our residence for the next 2 nights.

Although tired from the travelling we are raring to go for the next week’s and what they will bring.

Day One

After a four hour flight and a three hour bus ride we have finally arrived at our hotel in Rasnov.

We have spent our first day exploring the beautiful city of Rasnov, and preparing ourselves for the journey ahead. We have a long couple of weeks ahead of us, that we are sure will be filled with challenges, adventure and excitement.

We hope the rest of our journey will be filled with as much excitement and fun as this first day has already brought us, and we looking forward to sharing it with you.

Day 1 – The Leaders

After a 3.5 hour flight and a 2 hour transfer we have arrived safely in Rasnov.

Had a lovely dinner at the Max International Hotel, thanks to the 4 drivers for the smooth transfer and Ana for all her help and support during the weeks and months before arriving in Rasnov also to her mum for the help on arrival.

Final preparations tomorrow before the young people head off on their Explorer Belt.

Best of luck to everyone.

Its Getting Closer!!!

Transylvania is a historical region which is located in central Romania. Bound on the east and south by its natural borders, the Carpathian mountain range, historical Transylvania extended westward to the Apuseni Mountains. The term sometimes encompasses not only Transylvania proper, but also parts of the historical regions of Crișana and Maramureș, and occasionally the Romanian part of Banat. The region of Transylvania is known for the scenery of its Carpathian landscape and its rich history. It also contains major cities such as Cluj-NapocaBrașovSibiuTârgu Mureș, and Bistrița. The Western world commonly associates Transylvania with vampires, because of the influence of Bram Stoker‘s novel Dracula and its many film adaptations.
